Prints
Elemaria’s first foray into the world of printing began in 1981, as assistant silk screen printer for Brazilian artist Carlos Liuzzo. In 1982 she worked with photographer Antonio Caetano, also Brazilian, in black silk screen printing. And later from 2006, Elemaria worked with Tita (Celile Buritt) on a series of textile paintings in Tahiti.
The relationship of technology and material, the physical, intellectual and sensuous processes are all combined in the discipline of print. Printing requires trust in self, decision making, and faith in the process.
Subject matter is not predetermined. The process is intuitive without knowledge of the resulting prints. It is in the printing and overprinting that the imagery is developed and refined.
Here is a selection of work that is available in prints on a variety of media such as fabric, paper and canvas.
